Portrait of Maurizio Montesi

Maurizio Montesi

I am a Rome-based film director and editor, born on April 11, 1987, with Costa Rican and Uruguayan roots.

I began my career with the artistic collective Artcock, before going on to direct and edit the successful web series Esami, which was later acquired by RAI, Italy’s national public broadcaster. I subsequently worked as a director on the television show CCN – Comedy Central News for Sky Italia and, more recently, as a writer for Paese Reale on RaiPlay.

On the international stage, I worked as Media Content Manager for the agency AAB, overseeing high-profile events such as the UCLA galas in Hollywood, as well as events for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and UNICEF. Since 2022, I have been collaborating with the NGO Amend across several African countries, where I am currently working on a documentary in Ghana.

Among my most significant projects, I directed and edited Noi qui così siamo, my first documentary, presented at the Pigneto Film Festival. Together with director and production designer Filippo Loy, I co-wrote Cotton Fioc, a collection of surreal short stories that was later adapted into a series of short films.

Following the award of a screenwriting grant from Italy’s Ministry of Culture (MiC), I am currently developing my first feature film. I am also working on several other projects in collaboration with Filippo Loy and writer and screenwriter Flavio Nuccitelli.
